The car that managed to retain the title of second best-selling vehicle in Britain for the best part of four decades is uniquely celebrated here, from the first 1100 and 1300's in the sixties right the way through to the S2 RS Turbo of the nineties.
Originally hailed as a practical family vehicle, see how the Escort evolved from a strange little car to become the most popular brand in the history of Ford's production, and still remain a first choice for many rally drivers today.
Take a unique look at the Escort RS Cosworth and WRC cars, the hero models that won so many world class events back in the nineties. Unseen archive footage of these cars in action both on and off the road is not to be missed!
DVD extras include promotional body work film, 'Dressed for Success’, and two memorable commercials; one for the XR3i and the other starring Ronnie Corbett.

Mega.....pure 1970s fever' Autosport
Ford's Escort is an icon of world rallying, and this action-packed DVD shows exactly why its earliest incarnations remain as popular today as ever. Escorts - Supreme Rallying Fords of the '70s features archive film charting two of the car's most remarkable feats. Five for the Fiesta follows the entire story of the incredible 1970 World Cup Rally, an odyssey from London's Wembley Stadium, venue of the 1966 football World Cup, to Mexico City, that would host the event in 1970.

Almost 100 cars set out to travel the 16,000 miles across 25 countries and three continents. However, the route proved a car-breaker - the first 4,000 miles across Europe ended the hopes of 25 crews and, as the battle continued across South America, the challenges and dangers, including dust, traffic, massive falls and lack of oxygen, saw the field diminished to just 23 by the finish. Ford fielded modified Mark I machines and a strong line-up of drivers, including rally greats Hannu Mikkola, Timo Makinen, Roger Clark, Gunner Palm and Tony Fall - plus England football legend Jimmy Greaves! Determination and teamwork saw Ford dominate the results, with five Escorts in the top eight and victory for Mikkola and Palm.
This exceptional film charts the entire story, with action footage, interviews with members of the Ford team and rare behind-the-scenes film.
The second film, 1977 RAC Rally, is packed with action from one the truly classic events, as well as one of Ford's most successful ever competitions. The Escort RS1800 was the class of the field, taking victory with Bjorn Waldegard at the wheel, but also securing third, fourth, fifth and sixth places for the marque. There is no added commentary to get in the way of the atmospheric and evocative sounds of the cars at speed as they tackle the incredible stages if Britain, so you can fully enjoy the awesome sounds of these iconic rallying machines.
For many the Ford Escort is the ultimate rally car - and this is the ultimate celebration.
'Just when you think you've seen all there is to see of the Escort with an in-depth documentary about the 1970 World Cup Rally from London to Mexico City - Mk1 Escorts filled five of the top eight places thanks to the likes of Hannu Mikkola, Timo Makinen and Roger Clark - there's a second film about the 1977 RAC Rall. It's a mega one too, with footage of the opening couple of stages of the rally without any unnecessary commentary to drown out the sounds of the twin-cam Mk2 cars. If it's an epic you're after, then the mere 36 minutes of action on this DVD is unlikely to satisfy, but there's pure 1970s fever in every one of them' - Autosport
